Sydney New Year’s Eve is one the world’s largest New Year’s Eve celebrations, with a local audience of over 1 million around the harbour foreshore and a global audience reach over 425 million. 

We’re recruiting volunteers for the event from 28 December to 31 December 2024.

Our volunteers are the face of Sydney New Year’s Eve. They provide valuable information to our audiences and are based at information booths around the city or in roving teams at key locations.

You’ll share information with people about the event, vantage points, accessible viewing areas, public facilities, transport, amenities and give general directions.

Volunteer dates and times  

Pre-event information booths – 28 December to 30 December 

Shifts are available in the morning and afternoon. Shifts are around 5 hours and are based at the information booths at Queen Victoria Building or Customs House.

Information booths and roving teams - New Year’s EveTuesday 31 December 

Shifts are available in the morning, afternoon and evening. Shifts vary between 4 to 6 hours and are based at the information booths or as a part of a roving team.

Want to be a team leader? 

We’re also seeking team leaders. If you would like to step up to the role of a team leader, please select this option in your application.

Team leaders are responsible for managing up to 10 volunteers during their shifts. Team leaders must attend an extra briefing on Thursday 12 December. Previous experience as a volunteer leader is desirable.
