Cahill Expressway designated accessible viewing area

Above Circular Quay, the Cahill Expressway is one of the best spots to view the Sydney New Year’s Eve fireworks.

Transport for NSW hosts this free, family-friendly, alcohol and glass-free ticketed event.

There is one session for accessible tickets to view both the 9pm and midnight fireworks.

Site description

Site entry

  • Enter at the corner of Conservatorium Road and Macquarie Street

  • Accessible ticket early entry is from 6.15pm to 6.30pm. Entry is closed to all patrons between 8.45pm to 9.15pm an again from 11.145pm

  • The viewing area is 700 metres from the entry point.

Tickets are essential. Apply for tickets via the Accessible Ballot.

Getting here

Public transport is the best way to get around on New Year’s Eve.

Martin Place station is about 1 kilometre away from the site on a flat surface.

St James station is 1.5 kilometres away from the site on a flat, paved surface.

There is no access to the Cahill Expressway via Circular Quay station.

Driving is not recommended.

Accessible ticket holders who register mobility concerns in the ballot will be contacted prior to the event to arrange assistance for access requirements.
